We are reassured that living this life for Christ is to live with Him in heaven, without pain and sorrow. Philippians 1:21 – For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Romans 8:13 – For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. John 11:26 – And everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Luke 23:43 – And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with my in Paradise.” He promises us that believing in Him gives us the ability to not fear death and sorrow, for we know that glory is not far behind. He promises to provide us with comfort and rest, for grieving takes a toll on our physical body as well. God reminds us that He is with us during the time of death. Psalm 34:18 – The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Matthew 5:4 – Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 11:28 – Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Psalm 73:26 – My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Psalm 23:4 – Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me your rod and your staff, they comfort me. And you know the way to where I am going. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, there where I am you may be also. John 14:1-4 – Let not your hearts be troubled. Hold strong, continue to keep one foot in front of the other. Healing will come, and the glory that we long for will be revealed in His timing. God also tells us that no matter how great our grief may be, the reward we reap from God will far surpass anything we can imagine. Days of sorrow will be followed with days of joy and healing. God acknowledges our time to grieve without putting a time limit for the process, but lets us know that we will not have feelings of mourning forever. Romans 8:18 – I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. Acknowledging our grief is full of importance. God acknowledges our time and need to grieve by telling us that they have a place in our lives. This time of sorrow is sacred, for grieving death is unique to every individual.

Part of human life on earth involves death, and with death, comes grieving. God does not promise us a life without death, pain and sorrow. Psalm 119:28 – My soul is weary with sorrow strengthen me according to your word.Įcclesiastes 12:7 – And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it. What does God tell us about death? Sorrow Does Come to EarthĮcclesiatstes 3:4 – A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance. There is often times where no one can say anything to bring us comfort during this process, so finding what God wants us to know is more important than ever. No matter the timing, experiencing loss leaves a painful void in our lives. Death of a loved one is often the ultimate grief.

Death is unfortunately an inevitable process during our lifetime.
